Plummer Welcomes New Wastewater Practice Leader Ana Peña-Tijerina

A wastewater leader and strategic visionary, Ana Peña-Tijerina recently joined Plummer as Wastewater Practice Leader. Ana steps into the role with over 20 years of experience having served in wastewater engineering roles in academic, public, and private sectors. Her expansive list of experience includes designing wastewater improvement projects, leading cross-functional teams, overseeing more than 50 projects at a large water reclamation facility, directing the development of capital improvement plans, and implementing asset management programs.

Ana's passion for working in the wastewater field is evident through her many accomplishments. She is a licensed professional engineer and received her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, and Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Monterrey, Mexico. She obtained her PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, where her dissertation focused on biological nutrient removal. Along with authoring and presenting numerous technical papers, Ana is a contributing author to several WEF Manuals of Practice including No. 31 - An Introduction to Process Modeling for Designers, No. 8 - Design of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants, 5th Edition, and No. 11 - Operation of Water Resource Recovery Facilities, 7th Edition. She received recognition for her contributions to the art and science of wastewater treatment and water pollution control by winning the Winfield S. Mahlie award presented by WEAT and has won multiple other awards for her involvement in industry research and development.
