Historically, the Sunset Acres neighborhood has had flooding issues due to an undersized storm sewer system. The primary objective of this project was to alleviate drainage issues in the most cost-effective manner. A secondary objective was to reroute/replace utility lines and provide traffic calming measures through the neighborhood. Plummer was responsible for the design of utility reroutes and for determining locations and sizing of gutters, storm water inlets, and channels to convey the 25-year, 24-hour storm event.
The City of Dallas was required to provide funding for design and construction of a Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) known as the Pavaho Wetland.
This project included the evaluation of secondary streets, inlets, and pipe flooding conditions located in an older section of East Austin.
