City of Round Rock
Round Rock, Texas
United States
The City of Round Rock operates a licensed radio-based telemetry system that consists of over 45 sites that monitor both the water distribution system including water storage tanks, pressure reducing stations, booster pump stations and wastewater collection system sites. The entire system was currently centrally managed at the Water Treatment Plant, which was not accessible for the wastewater treatment facility operations.
The City wanted to review the communications systems with an eye toward upgrading the existing communications technologies, and splitting the access to the sites and integrating them into an overall VPN system with the new Ignition SCADA systems at the Water Treatment Facility and theWastewater Treatment Plant.
In preparation for a water and wastewater telemetry systems upgrade, Plummer performed a communications system master plan. Plummer visited each of the sites, documenting the existing PLC system installation and configuration. Plummer wrote a master plan document that reviewed the current state architecture of the system, developed future state architecture diagrams, and performed a gap analysis with cost estimates of several communication system options. The completion and approval of the recommendations from the master plan led to the development of contract documents for the implementation of the communications systems upgrades.
Plummer designed an expansion of the existing 4-MGD regional water reclamation facility to 10-MGD to serve the fast-growing communities northeast of San Antonio.
Plummer is currently working on an expansion to the Brushy Creek East Wastewater Treatment...
