Fiber FTTX Build

Plummer assisted the Zayo Group in their recent deployments of Fiber to approximately 100 cell towers within the Austin and San Antonio Market areas. To date, Plummer has successfully designed and permitted over 750,000 linear feet of new fiber network.

Plummer developed highly detailed designs requiring full civil design, pavement restorations, traffic control, subsurface utility engineering (SUE) and utility coordination. Designs also included detailed tree survey and environmental assessment impacts to critical water quality zones.

At the core of the project scope, Plummer was tasked with “Value Engineering” in which we performed route studies, feasibility planning to identify the “least costs” method of construction balanced with network resiliency. We identified project roadblocks such as long lead permits, bridge attachment feasibility options and schedule impacts and advised the client on mitigation plans.

During construction, Plummer was on call to quickly address design changes and expedite permitting to maintain construction continuity. Plummer also led multiple survey crews innovating new high-speed data collection processes. Estimated construction costs are approximately $45M.
